Myopia Control

David Canton FBDO, Dispensing Optician

David began in optics in 1992.  He has worked in optical manufacturing & wholesale, account management and consultancy, before qualifying as a dispensing optician in 2009.  He has lectured and presented in France, Greece and the US on varifocals and dispensing ideas.  His passions include providing excellent optics, both optically and cosmetically and designing bespoke eyewear solution for patients.  David likes to play optical detective and is very keen at solving varifocal issues.             

Lydia Canton FBDO, Dispensing Optician

Lydia has been working in optics since 2001.  She started working for a certain multiple optical company and quickly became one of the staff trainers and qualified as a dispensing optician in 2009.  She is responsible for the frame purchasing and tries to ensure all tastes and budgets are catered for; from the simple half eye, through to gold plated rimless frames.   Lydia's eye for detail sets her apart from the average dispense and she creates incredible and unforgettable eyewear

Julie Sage, Practice Manager, SMC level2

Julie joined the practice in 2010.  She has progressed from optical assistant, to practice manager and has gained qualifications in optics.  Julie works diligently in the background ensuring that all processes run smoothly, therefore ensuring that the patient journey is as comfortable as possible.  Brilliant at dispensing and choosing the right frame and lens choice, although her modesty will not allow...

Cheryl Morris, Optical Assistant

Cheryl has been working in at the practice since 2007.  An exceptional all rounder, Cheryl looks after all of us. Her customer service is second to none and she loves to get involved with frame selection. Cheryl looks after our patients impeccably throughout the entire journey.  She’s also in charge of health and safety and will ensure that everything is proper and correct. 

Nicola "Figgy" Hipwood, Optical Assistant

Figs enjoys calmly taking patients through the screening process.  She loves to help patients choose their new frames and gets involved with the final measuring.  She particularly likes the satisfaction of completing a knarly repair job. 

Ian Crompton BSc(Hons) MCOptom, Optometrist

Ian qualified in 1992 and has a wealth of experience working in independent practice, hospitals and paediatric eyecare.  Ian has a very relaxed demeanour and is extremely through in his eye investigations.  His pub quiz skills are also exceptional!

Hannah Turner BSc(Hons) MCOptom, Optometrist

Hannah recently qualified and is our newest optometrist.  She has worked in optics for 10 years, qualifying as a Dispensing Optician in 2017 and gaining a degree in vision science through Canterbury Christchurch University in 2019. Hannah then went onto graduate in 2021 from Bradford University with an Optometry degree, completing pre registration training in Feb 2023.  Particular interests are dry eye and low vision, and welcoming to nervous patients.  She also likes art and music and crochet too.


Abi Loveridge, Bookkeeper

Although strictly not a member of staff, Abi was once a "Saturday girl".  She has now progressed to a qualified bookkeeper and manages our cashflow and finances.  She certainly knows how to look after the pennies!
